Come Out, Brown, Clear Your Name

There are swirling rumors, Dan Brown, that you did not write …
All the books that bear your name … surely, that’s not right.
Why would someone say these things? Surely they’re not true. …
Come out Dan Brown, and answer these things being said of you!
If someone is lying and you did write every word …
You deserve to clear your name; your answers should be heard.
You should get the benefit; you still have your rights;
You don’t need ghost writers, Dan, surely you can write.
And yet, you’re not the typical angry heretic …
Clean cut, pleasant, practiced — and when you need it, schtick.
If you were like Hitchens or a Richard Dawkins type …
And if you weren’t surrounded by such glamour, glitz and hype …
We might be prone to think you were indeed the hatchet man,
But, no, you’re not the brooding type … you’re a dapper Dan.
The only flaw that we can see is we’re all n’er do wells,
Scrapping for a buck, we know, is maddening as hell.
And if you’re one to fall in love with an older woman …
I can tell you what it’s like to be string puppet man.
If money’s what you want, well, it is money you shall have —
But there’s no balm in Gilead for you, no oil or salve.
Still, you have our sympathy, though you must face the Lord;
It’s odd this doesn’t anger you … your pen is not a sword.
Come out, Dan Brown, come out … if you should not be blamed,
Stand up and fight, defend yourself, clear your tarnished name.
Now, if you did not write them, you should say who did.
It’s not fair to take the rap, while others are hid.
If you’ve lied, as others have, Dan Brown, if you have lied …
You know you’ve mocked God’s Son … and you’d best apologize.
Writers have a sacred code, principles to stand on:
Tell us now, be truthful … would they hide Prester John?
John the scholar, the African … why would you agree …
To hide him ‘cause he’s brown, like you? God made all men free!
What determines a man’s worth is his heart and not his skin.
Tell us Dan, we will forgive … let Jesus bear your sin.
Don’t be shy, come out and plug your book just like before —
If you’re a bloody hatchet man … unless you’re just a …*
You realize if there’s deceit here … Jesus is the King …
A innocent man, charged again, what judgment would that bring?
